Trilithon Protractors History

What's New in Trilithon Protractors 1.6

Rebuilt Protractors to operate on Mac OS Lion and Mountain Lion.

Added a Check For Updates menu item to the Protractors Application Menu. You can now check to determine if there are new versions of Protractors available for download.

What's New in Trilithon Protractors 1.5

Added a Radian Scale.

The Radian Scale indicates the manner in which multiples of π move around the periphery of the circle. In addition to displaying angles in radians and degrees, the Radian scale shows the principal multiples and sub-multiples of π, and a secondary readout displays fractions of π. These features constitute a valuable tool for educators.

The Radian scale displays its primary unit (radians) and also displays the angle in degrees, as well as displaying the sine and cosine of the angle.

Added a Compass Rose.

The Compass Rose Scale displays a traditional compass of thirty-two points, with North indicated by a Fleur-de-Lis, and East indicated with an Iron Cross. Over and above these whimsical aspects, the Compass Rose captions illustrate the special vocabulary of maritime navigation.

The Compass Rose scale displays degrees of bearing (measured from the North point) and also displays the reciprocal bearing — that is, 180° away from your principal bearing.

Enhanced the Interactive Readouts on all of the scales

The Degree, Grad, and Mil scales display their primary units as in previous versions. All three scales now also display the angle in radians, and also display the sine and cosine of the angle.

The Degree scale displays its primary unit (degrees) in two decimal forms. One form display degrees to two decimal places. The other form displays degrees and minutes.

Removed the Preferences Panel

The Preferences Panel has been replaced by menus to provide direct control of background colour and opacity

Added a Quick Help window available via the Help menu

What's New in Trilithon Protractors 1.1

The Background Colour of the The Major Tracking Line (the red line) that follows the location of the mouse now leaves a 'bubble' when the mouse is in the transparent area inside the Protractor body. This 'bubble' enables you to 'click through' to the application underneath the Protractor.

Fixed a Mistake where Protractors did not track the mouse after you 'unhide' the application. It now works correctly.

Features of Trilithon Protractors 1.0

Three different units of measurement — degrees (360 gradations per circle), grads (400 gradations per circle), and mils (6,400 gradations per circle)

Protractors direction of measurement can be widdershins (anti-clockwise) or deasil (clockwise) independently for each protractor unit.

Protractors Zero Point can be set to multiples of 30° and 45° (for the degrees protractor), multiples of 50 grad (for the grads protractor), and multiples of 800 mil (for the mils protractor)

Protractors displays a real-time interactive angle display as you move the mouse

Background Colour is selectable from the Preferences Panel; Background Colour includes Light Metal and Dark Metal

Move Protractors either via the mouse or via the Arrow Keys

Opacity Control — Protractors can be dimmed down so you can see through them

Dim Out When Moving is an option selectable from the Preferences Panel, so that you can select whether the protractor turns partially transparent when it is being moved

Set protractor origin to the current mouse location. Simply move the mouse to any position on the screen and type ⌘ O (command O, without clicking the mouse first), and the protractor origin (centre) is placed at the mouse location. If you ever move the protractor right off the screen, you can get it back using this feature

⌘ C (command C) copies the current mouse coordinates to the clipboard

Protractor Settings are Remembered between sessions; you turn this feature on and off via the Protractors menu
