Project is another tool for organizing your financial transactions. Project provides an opportunity to categorize your financial transactions by a purpose you spending money for or receiving an income, regardless of the categories.Within a single instrument, by using projects you can monitor for example, means spent on building houses, financial transactions associated with your business, for the cost of travel and so on . You can also say that the project is the tags assigned to transactions, only with a hierarchical structure.
To work with projects, it is convenient to use the filters, which allow to select only those transactions that relate to a particular project and its subprojects. And then with the aid of reports or in the transaction analyze selected projects, to assess the profitability of a project taking into account planning for the future and so on.
Projects, like the categories have a hierarchical structure with unlimited levels.
On the Projects tab all the projects in a hierarchical drop-down list are shown . At any time you can edit the name of the project.
To add a project you can either click the button to create a new project at the same level as the selected project or click the button
to create sub-selected project. Then you must enter the name of the new project. It must be unique in its level in the hierarchy.
To delete the project, you can use the button . However, if the selected project is used in the transactions, the Personal Ledger will give a warning and offer a choice:
As well as categories, projects can be managed directly on the tab "Transactions". Namely, create projects by specifying the full name of the project (including the subprojects which path separated by ":") in the edit field "Project" in the editor of transactions. Or to create or remove a special pop-up window by clicking the special button "Select project" on the right of the editing project.
