Neutrino can send and receive audio streams to and from other supported Audio applications running either on the same Mac as Neutrino, or on any other Mac on the local network.
This allows you to do a number of potentially cool things:
![]() | You can open the Sharing Inspector using the Inspector button in the Toolbar (Cmd-4). |
The Bonjour Sharing Inspector contains two disclosable sections, NetSend and NetReceive.
The NetSend section allows the user to configure Neutrino’s default NetSend unit. Sending is enabled by default, and configured to name the output stream [username]’s Head’, which is how other supported audio apps will identify the output from Neutrino.
Neutrino’s default NetSend AudioUnit is located immediately prior to the output mixer in the Neutrino AUGraph, and thus the shared audio stream contains all AU Effects configured in the fxchain, as well as any Warp, Equalizer & Reverb effects, without it’s output level being affected by the output mixer.
The NetReceive section allows the user to configure Neutrino’s default NetReceive unit. Receiving is disabled by default, and must be manually enabled after each launch, as the NetReceiver will automatically try to connect to the first detected NetSend host, which will in most cases be the same copy of Neutrino.
