FOH and Monitor linking
iLive can provide a 64 channel digital mic split so that one set of mic preamps can feed two or more systems, for example split FOH, monitor, recording and broadcast.
Only one set of mic preamps is required. For example, the MASTER MixRack could have the mic preamps fitted. The SLAVE MixRack could get its inputs from the Port B digital split and can therefore be a smaller rack with less mic inputs, or the iDR0 with DSP only. All MixRacks have enough DSP to process the full 64 input channels. The single cable link replaces the traditional analogue multicore. This saves cost, weight and space.
Fit the same type of network option card in Port B of both MixRacks. For simple point-to-point use ACE. Popular choices for advanced networking include Dante, EtherSound or MADI.
Independent channel gain trims provide a method of gain sharing. The MASTER system has control of the preamp analogue gains. These affect both systems. Each system also has its own +/-24dB digital channel trim controls to make independent offset adjustments. The user has the option to work with the trims instead of gain once gain is set. This gives both engineers independent control once the analogue gain has been set. More information on gain sharing here.
How to set up the digital mic split:
iLive provides factory default Template Shows as a starting point for different applications. Choose 'FOH-' (FOH only or monitors from FOH), 'MON-' (monitors only), 'MicSplit-' (slave system), or '-with-xDR' (xDR-16 Expander added) Show.
